rMBP sitting, not sleeping, goes black when I start using then starts working again

So if I plug in my rMBP and walk away for a while, when I come back (randomly) I will touch the trackpad and the screen will turn on. Mouse moves, I can click on things, but only for about 5-10 seconds. Then the screen will go black and it will sit there doing nothing for about 20-30 seconds then it will work fine again from there on out.

No clue what is going on, it doesn't seem to create any harm or anything but it is kind of weird.

Anyone have any ideas?

similar thing happened to me twice in the past few days. laptop would goto sleep, I wake it up by tapping on some keys, the enter password screen pops up, then the screen goes black for awhile, non-responsieve to any key tapping or trackpad scrolling. Has gotten me a little concerned @@. 2013 15' rmbp here.
