The two things are very much related. This is not a Dev-Team release; the Dev-Team continues to maintain its completely independent and unfunded status. They will not accept donations. But, like they did with the previous DreamTeam jailbreak, the four members of evad3rs (two of whom are Dev-Team members) have agreed to accept donations and agreed in advance as to how the funds should be divvied up.

I have no doubt that, once this tool has been out for a bit and donations have slowed, MuscleNerd will incorporate the exploits used in evasi0n into a new release of RedSn0w. But that tool will not have a donate button.

I think I'd much rather like not knowing when a JB will be released. Because right now, I want it released now, not wait until Sunday!

But, I am glad it's coming out, I'd like to try out iOS 6 features. Only thing that will suck is I plan on upgrading to 5S and will most likely have to wait for a JB.

sorry if this was answered already - but are there new capabilities released with new jailbreak exploits? or is basically just a new exploit they discovered and all the capabilities (or potential at least) are the same as the jailbreak from before?

A jailbreak is a jailbreak. It gives you full controll over your device. It doesnt do anything different than a previous JB besides the fact that it uses newer/different exploits to give you root access to your device.
The capabilities come after that in form of JB packages/hacks.
You can install many new things that are not in the appstore and never will be probably. Capabilities are only limited by the package creators imagination and creativity.
Possibilities of what you can do and change on your idevice are endless.

Probably gonna be the negative nacy here, but I don't know about that.

I had an idea for a theme once, which involved using icons larger than the per-determined size (118x120), but it just reverts back to the stock image.

So, unless I missed a way to do so, there are some limits.

The only thing I'm jealous of Andriod users are their abilities in the customization area, but not enough to make me switch (personal preference).

No one knows but the site suggests (if you look at the date on the calendar app) that it will released on the 3rd.
