I've had my MacBook for 5 1/2 years now, and a few months ago the monitor started flickering whenever I'd move it back and forth. It wouldn't go out completely; if I shined a bright light at the monitor, I could still see what was on the screen. I'm pretty sure the issue is with the inverter cable, but I'm only 97% sure on that. How much do you think it'll cost me to have it replaced? Or would it be better just to get a new MacBook (which I plan on doing eventually anyway, but not til next year when I can afford it).

Edit: I got my MacBook brand new in June 2007.
