I got an ipad 4 recently and have a bunch of mkv movies (1080p) that I want to watch, but the iTunes doesn't allow you to transfer over mkv files!

So I was wondering what's the best way to do this (I have a Mac), so that I can watch the movies on the default ipad player. Any help would be much appreciated... Thanks!

iFlicks is very good for adding Metadata and it will also convert MKV to M4V which is what you need for the iPad, it is very user friendly and fairly cheap from the Mac App Store. You could also use Handbrake which is just for converting, it is free but slightly more geeky than iFlicks.
