I'm redoing my itunes, and I started by removing all my music and I'm now putting it back on in better order. One thing I'm getting in order is genre as before there were like a million genres all out of order (for instance, I might have different genres of "Hip-Hop", "Rap", "Hip-Hop/Rap", "Rap/Hip-Hop", "Hip Hop (no dash)", "Hip Hop / Rap (spaces between slash)" and so on to infinity, it was ridiculous.

So I figured once I erased all the music, the extra genres would disappear. They mostly did, and now I'm left with a list of about maybe 45 genres, which is less than I was expecting for the itunes default list.

But more importantly, there's still some wonky genres on there that I can't believe are all part of the default list. For instance, it still has three separate categories of "Hip Hop/Rap" (no dash), "Hip-Hop" and "Hip-Hop/Rap".

Then, there's also "Dance", "Pop" and "Pop ; Dance". Then, there's also "Pop/Rock" and "Rock/Pop". And the list goes on.

So does anyone know the real default genre list? And why my genre list didn't revert back to it once I erased all the songs?

I also went into the files, made sure all the songs were gone from itunes in the music and media folders, then I also went into the cover art folder and made sure it and its caches were emptied.

All I can think is, maybe I'm missing a cache in some folder or something that's somewhere remember a few random genres from the crazy list of genres I had before?

Can anyone help me fix this? And regardless, I'd still like to know the actual default genre list because I'm going to try to mostly use it and keep my genre list simplified.
