Hi Forum,

so what is Apple going to do with their weird resolution? They have to go up eventually right? And doubling again seems really hard technically, and it would give a 2272x1280, which is again a weird resolution.

If only they started out with 360 wide, retina would be 720 wide and we would have a nice 720p panel in the iPhone 5.

Any thoughts? What are they going to do/should be doing?

Going by Apple's definition of a Retina display, there's technically no need to make it any higher as the difference would be unnoticeable. I can't see the resolution changing any time soon.

There is no need for a higher resolution. Look up the law of diminishing returns

They are currently focusing on making every single apple display a retina one. Odd resolution comes with the format of the screen.

Ideally I would like Apple to just switch to a 720p screen and then be done with it. But I don't have high hopes for this as Apple just changed the screen resolution and they like to be different.
