iPad returns at Target

Have any of you returned a recently purchased iPad or iPad Mini to Target? Do they accept returns or replacements only?

I know what you're thinking "Why dont you call them?" I have called 4 different Target stores in my area and have gotten several different responses. The responses I've gotten from the Returns/Customer service people at the different Target stores: 1) 30 days returnable/refundable if opened 2) 14 days refundable if opened 3) Not returnable, only replacement if theres a defect 4) 45 days

Pretty rediculous you can get such widely varrying answers to a simple questions. I know its not the employees fault, its the companies for poor training.

From Target:

"Most unopened items in new condition returned within 90 days will receive a refund or exchange. Some items have a modified return policy that is less than 90 days. Those items will show a “return by” date under the item on your receipt or packing slip and in the "Item details, shipping" tab if purchased on Target.com. Items that are opened or damaged or do not have a packing slip or receipt may be denied a refund or exchange. All bundled items must be returned with all components for a refund."

If you'd like a better answer, try calling their support line at 1-800-440-0680.

Personal experience is that Target sucks. Here in SoCal they tell people they cannot return for a refund if opened. The manager said it's their policy for electronics when there's no written policy anywhere. I called corporate and after arguing for a bit (the guy does NOT have a definite answer to that either), he said I should be able to and asked to speak with the store manager but I already left the store. I went to another Target and returned it stating it's defective. The other person at the customer service was questioning if those can be returned at all but the guy helping me told her yes, with a valid defective reason.

So, good luck. You will not get a definite answer from the store or corporate. I will never get electronics from Target again.

I ALWAYS ask about return policy each time I'm buying something I remotely might want to return. I stopped buying electronics at Target the first time they told me I couldn't return within 30 days. IIRC, it was an iPod Touch a few years ago, and the return policy was what you'd expect when you buy and open a CD or DVD.

I think their return policies may have gotten better, but I'm a Best Buy shopper now.

This is exactly the reason why I don't buy anything Apple from anywhere but Apple. Even if it means paying a few bucks more or having to wait for an online order.

I've had carrier stores refuse to take back a defective iPhone 2 days after I bought it from them. I bought my first 3g iPad from an ATT store that wouldn't exchange it 8 hours after I bought it. Same business day. Got it first thing in the morning and came back that afternoon. They wouldn't let me return it because it was open nor exchange it because "the warranty is with Apple"

I've had places like Best Buy jerk me around with their returns policies as well.

Apple is clear cut and with some non iPhone issues they were willing to stretch things a little since it was only a couple of days past the listed return policy and i wanted an exchange not a refund.

I bought an iPad mini from target last week. When I asked the employee how long the return period was and he said it was either 30 or 45 days and that it would show up on the receipt. Once purchased the receipt gave me a return date 30 days out and the employee said as long as its not heavily damaged/scratched and has the cables with the box they will take them back for a return because they just send them back to apple. I always thought Target was pretty lenient on returns for pretty much anything, sucks you guys have strict ones.

Edit: from target.com

The following items must be returned within 30 days: Computers, netbooks, laptops, eReaders, tablets, cameras, camcorders, digital audio players, GPS systems, video game hardware, personal DVD players, and no-contract cell phones. For these items purchased between 11/1 – 12/25, the 30 day refund period will start on 12/26.
