Hi Guys,

To connect a IBook G4 to an Airport Extreme unit do I have to have an Airport Extreme card in my mac or can it connect over regular WiFi?

As long as your G4 has an Airport card inside, it will connect over wifi to an Airport Extreme. Earlier models the Airport card was optional, then later models had it standard.
