iMovie and Siig Video Capture Adaptor

I would like to copy a few VHS tapes I have into iMovie (or any program really), I tried going from a vcr to a Siig video capture adaptor to my macbook pro's usb, but iMovie doesn't recognize it, It just defaults to using the face time camera to capture video. Anyone ever try using the Siig capture adaptor with IMovie and get it to recognize the video coming in to record? Is it even the right video adaptor to do such a thing?

Siig adaptor im using:

with imovie 9.0.8

Thanks
