Problem connecting blutooth keyboard to Apple TV

Hello all. I tried to connect my apple bt keyboard (model a1016) to my atv last week, to no avail.

All I get is a "pairing" message and the pinwheel icon until it either times out or I press enter on the keyboard. If I press enter, the traditional 4-digit pairing code shows up on the screen, but only for maybe a half second before I get the "request failed" type message.

Anyone experienced this or found a workaround?

As I recall that older model BT keyboard is simply not compatible with iOS in general.

I believe that's correct - I have both A1016 and A1314 keyboards here, the A1314 connects to the Apple TV but the A1016 doesn't. Seems to be by design.

Ugh. That's what I figured, but was dreading. Fingers crossed for a workaround.
