upgraded iPod Touch

A seller has said that his iPod Touch 4th generation 8gb has been "upgraded to 4th generation". What do you think that means, and is that a reliable process?

I'd assume it means upgraded firmware

Yep; would mean the device was upgraded to iOS 4 (the 4th generation of iOS).
