Fastest method for copying files

I have an early 2011, 15", 2.2G, MBP. I often have need to transfer files from my Garmin 260w GPS to a b/u file on my MBP. The files are about two - six G in size and take an hour or more using simply Copy Item.

Any thoughts about quicker ways to operate?

Thanks for your ideas!

Unfortunately, there aren't any faster ways as the speed of the transfer is a direct result of the crappy cord they give you.

You need to do this "often?"
