Test New Feature: Mark Forums Unread Automatically
Hey Guys,
We recently changed the read/unread marking behavior on the site. Before, if you idled for too long, or left the site, then the site would automatically mark all the forums as read. This would be problematic for people who stayed on the site for a while, or tried to coordinate between devices or computers. We switched to a system where you need to explicitly read a thread to mark it as read. Alternatively, you can "Mark All Read" manually. Obviously, some people were used to the old system. So, I've added an option in your user control panel: http://forums.macrumors.com/profile.php?do=editoptions "Automatically mark forums read" This lets it behave like it used to. try it. let me know if there are any problems. arn |

Thanks, but I like the old method. I browse based on changes to recent reply on the threads anyways.

Thanks for including this option; much appreciated, as I didn't much care for the more recent change, and, as such, I have now availed of it.

The old way was not very intuitive for me. Is it not possible to automatically mark only the threads you have actually visited as read and then when new posts appear those should show up as unread, or is the site doing that now? phpBB does this.
