Stuck on 'calculating time remaining'

Does anyone know how to fix this? It's been like this for the whole of today :(

It's a very new macbook, just got it yesterday.

maybe the battery needs some charge-cycle to get "formated" properly, so I think it will fix itself after some recharge.

Any answers

I am having the exact same problem. It has slowly gotten better though after time. There is a bunch of Apple threads on this topic dating all the way back to 2006 but for some reason none of the people who were having the problem have posted a solution. I guess it is an easy solution because nobody ever answers what happened to their Macbooks and how they fixed it. All of the threads are now closed and nobody can comment on them. Glad to see this forum opened a thread the same as the one from 2006. Please help.
