GTX 675MX is actually a 680M???

I heard sb. said the GTX 675MX comes with stock high-end iMac 27" is a actually a 680M, according to Nvidia's specs. Is that true?

Looking at the number of CUDA cores, memory and shader clock. It seems so.

I don't know why Apple would list it as 675MX. But I guess it's to make the 680MX more desirable upgrade.

I guess a mere "X" upgrade wouldn't entice people to choose 680MX over a 680M

It's likely just nomenclature differences...Apple did at one point call the cards in iMacs from 2007-2010 by their desktop equivalent names even though they were still MXM boards and not the same GPUs found in desktops at the time. Likely it could be done that way here to either make the 680MX seem more desirable, or to make the 675MX seem more respectable. Either way, it's Apple and/or NVIDIA trying to pretty something up.

The iMac 680 is equivalent to a desktop 570.

It's a marketing game.
