[iPad] airplay on iPad2?

we just bought an ipad2 ios 6.1.2 and an ATV3, according to anything i've read so far, the airplay icon should just show up when the ipad is on the same network as the atv. airplay icon shows up and works on my mac mini, but not on the ipad. i can't find anything in the ipad about airplay. does the ipad 2 have airplay? do i have to turn it on or something?

The original iPad can do airplay. So I would assume the 2 can as well.
