Late 2012 iMac Support for 64GB of RAM?
Per Apple and Intel's spec the iMacs for 2012 max out at 32GB.
I know there are no (1x16GB) 16GB SODIMMs being sold today to populate 4 memory banks but I find the thought enticing. This thread came about as Apple & Intel often do not bother updating documentation unless these are to address a bug or govt regulation. |

Well the processor supports 32GB - and you cannot support more than the processor can handle.

So for all we know today's processors can support (4x32GB) 128GB DDR3 RAM that sell for $200 2-3 years from today. |

Officially the 2009 27" iMac did not support more than 16GB RAM, and people are happily running (and addressing) 32GB RAM in that system.
