I'm in the process of transferring everything from 5 year old 24" iMac running 10.6 to my new (used) 15" MBP i7 with a 240 gb SSD drive. I did a clean install of 10.8 on to the MBP. There is approximately 103gb of data being transferred which includes PS2 & 4, Lightroom 4, Painter X, other apps, data files, iTunes library, everything that was on my iMac.
I followed the migration instructions, connected the two computers together with a FireWire cable, and proceeded with the transfer. On the MBP it shows the time remaining. The time keeps fluctuating up and down. After about 2 hours only about 1/10 of data had been transferred and the time remaining climbed to 170 hours. Then it went down to 89 hours remaining and back up to 113 hours and has been stuck there for another 2 hours. On both screens it shows "transferring documents from user". There are no error or pause messages.

What should I do?

Your comments and advise would be greatly appreciated.

Jerry
