Shes a web designer/developer so she uses Illustrator a lot to layout and design the sites.

The issue is that she is probably going to be working remotely in June and may be able to take the iMac with her to set up at her home, BUT she also wants something that she can work from directly if she is on the go because she doesnt know where she is going to be or she is going to be between places a lot. So that pretty much means she wants a 15"+ with a nice screen that works for web design.

Now, there shouldnt be any issue with the rMBP and web design right? Like making images that are 72dpi on the high res screen or any weird issues with Illustrator and the screen? Just wanna be sure that the rMBP with its higher res screen isnt going to cause issues for her.

Is the refurb a good buy at this point or should she try to make her 13" MB last a few more months and wait for a price drop of older ones?

AppleCare or not?

She figures she wants like 5-6 years of use from this computer.

Illustrator is one of the Retina-aware CS6 apps meaning it scales pretty nicely to the high DPI screen. And it's one of the best displays for web and design work in general. Good gamut for a portable, and clear enough to use for hours without restrain.

Checked out the Apple Store today and it definitely looks like the 15" rMBP is the right choice at this point.

13" rMBP is too small
15" Pro screen isnt good enough
