I'm not too worried about what an Apple without Steve Jobs. Just get someone with their OWN strengths. She or he won't have the same strengths as Jobs, but will do some things better than Jobs. It's good to be thinking ahead to who that might be. (And Jobs' contribution and effect on Apple culture won't vanish quickly.)

I see they got in a little jab about Apple's supposedly-disappointing yet best-ever financial results last week

I'm sure they're grooming a mini Steve to take over. Especially after that cancer scare. I doubt it would be the same, but they'd keep up the spirit. As long they get someone good who focuses on Apple's core belief system, they will be fine.
