Running VMFusion VM's from a 32gb USB 3.0 stick?

I have a Mid 2012 MBA. Running VMFusion 5. I'm looking at moving my vm's to something like this

and running them from that. I only use the VM for minimal stuff. Checking email. No coding.

Would this work? Currently i run my VM's from the host drive in the MBA. Thanks in advance.

Give it a try and enough memory to not need to swap too much. In my company we play with Windows 8 via USB stick: works but that little stick gets quite hot.

when you say enough memory are you referring the RAM i have allocated to the VM? If so i'm currently giving it 4gb of ram. I have 8 in the MBA. I also have the 2ghz I7 processor in my MBA.

Yes, allocate enough RAM to the VM to reduce/eliminate swapping via USB.

4GB for checking email should be enough

you might can gradually reduce later.
