iPhone not showing in iTunes or iPhoto?

Nothing but trouble with this bloody Macbook Pro since buying. Fed up!!

Plug my iPhone in and it charges fine but it doesn't show in iTunes or iPhoto.

I have tried:

1. Different port
2. Different Cable
3. Restart iPhone & Mac
4. Checked Software updates
5. Reset PRAM

Anyone know what could be up? Dont want to have to go in the store again! I seem to live there!

I have now had this sorted, thanks. From Apple thinking it being a hardware issues to a software, reinstalling iTunes etc then finding the problem to have maybe been the iPhone cables going into the USB ports 2.0 and 3.0 resulting in not working with the iPhone but charging, oh and a knackered spare iPhone cable confused things too.
