Brightness while charging

I have mbp early 2011, 10.8.3 installed.
I noticed, that sometimes, but not always, when my mbp charges, the brightness goes low.
I do not know why this happen. I don't remember this , happening in the past.
I do know that brightness goes low when mbp is on battery, but this is an energy saving feature.
But, why brightness goes low when the mbp charges?

Two settings I can think of that would affect this. The first is the option to dim the display while on battery power, under Energy Saver and Battery. The second is the option to adjust brightness based on ambient light, under Display. From what I have seen the system remembers your preferences on different states (plugged in vs. discharging) which could account for your issue.
