I have about 20 GB of "other" storage when I look at "about this mac>more info>storage". Is there a way to find out what the other storage is?
I started looking at my storage when I could not install an Apple upgrade because I had run out of storage space.

I emptied my trash and got 21 more GB, but I need to remove more.

There is also a section of storage shown called "backups" which in my case only contains 76 kb. Would this be where my local Time Machine backups would show up? Or could they be taking up a lot of memory in the "other" section?

Also, is there a reasonably simple way to increase my 120GB HD?

Thanks
