If You had to buy iPhone for $600 would you do it?

Srsly, which is how most people in other countries have to pay for it since there's no carrier subsidy.
would u still buy it?????

If I could get unlimited txt, minutes, and a reasonable amount of data (2GB) for $50/mo, yes I probably would.

People do it all the time (those who upgrade early, etc.) I've purchased unsubsidized twice, though was more forced to that wanting to. Also remember that $600 isn't a ton of money to some people.

Yes. Better than a 2 year contract $100 per month.

I always pay out for the iPhone. It's the cheaper way.

I bought my iphone 5 for 1035 bulgarian levs with contract 35 levs each month tax (2000 talk mins 2000 sms, unlimited internet etc)... Without contract the iphone 5 16 gb is 1800 levs. ( I'm from Bulgaria ) 1035 levs = 685 $ 1800 levs = 1190 $

I always buy an unlocked iPhone so I'm paying full price more than $600.

I bought my original iPhone and iPhone 3G unsubsidized, so apparently, yes, I would

The reality these days is you pay for it either way. It's either through a higher contract cost and being locked in, or through a higher upfront device payment.

Yes. I bought the original iPhone for $599 (even with a 2yr contract) and last 2 phones contract-free for $549 and $649 (see signature). Since I'm using the $30 prepaid plan for 100min/5GB, it's still worth it to be contract free.

In the US we don't get a discount on the monthly charges if we buy the phone out right.

Probably not. I could settle for a Galaxy Nexus at half the price.

Yes, I haven't had a subsidized or locked phone in over twelve years.

I also do not get this obsession with unlimited this and that. Why not get a plan that's in line with your actual usage?

I paid 699, and I pay 6.90 a month for 500mb data, 200 minutes, and 5000 texts. Over 18 months that works out 90 cheaper than the best subsidised plan.

AT&T has plans that don't require a contract. With an unlocked phone, you can use those plans. You can have a top dollar phone without the top dollar monthly price.

So far as I have seen, carriers have no problem with handing out unlimited minutes. But when it comes to data, you can't stream movies, download games, or use cloud services without going over the monthly limit that they set. And furthermore, the prices that they set are simply ludicrous.

Yes if it makes financial sense. What t-mobile announces will determine what makes financial sense. Yes Nexus cost half the price but it's not an iPhone. I also prefer iOS compared jelly bean.

Yes, but those plans aren't really the same deal. Paygo plans are more expensive than postpaid and give you less -- at least on AT&T.

This. The iPhone plans are complete and utter ripoffs. I can't wait until T-Mobile releases their value plans.

I bought the iPhone 4 for the full unsubsidized price back in 2010 when I was on Tmobile. Monthly bill was $60 instead of the $110 that it would've been on AT&T.

Exactly. And well, the thing about it is the companies don't really offer true unlimited plans. They offered just enough regular speed data that they know you will use. But then after that they slow it down, and you're still paying as if it was full speed data.

And with that being said, what point is there to tether?

The iPhone needs it's own carrier and plans x

Buying the phone outright and then using a sim only plan always works out cheaper than a fixed contract.

I regret signing up for the iPhone 4S on a 24 month contract, my next phone will definitely be purchased sim only.

It does in most of the world, if you can afford to pay upfront. The US has crazy prices, largely due to the lack of competition.

No I would not.

$199.00 is cheaper than full price, since I like Verizon in my area, and will continue to stay with them. Not going to pay $649.00 ($450.00 more) so that I can move it around if I wanted to, which I won't. And the carriers that give you $49.00 month so called unlimited, are NOT the carriers that do well in my area. I like good connection . I pay only $69.99 per month (Not including Tax&Fee's) for unneeded 2 GB of data. Never go over 1 GB for now.
