iTunes Australia coming Oct. 25th

With all these media events I think we here at MacRumors have forgotten about a time honored rumor that is the opening of the Australia iTMS. Well, forget no more! According to this article it will open on Oct. 25th. Finally we can get back to the important rumors!

I'll believe it when I see it, I've seen way too many iTMS Australia rumours announcing the date the store opens, I've watched those days come and go and still no store! Oh well here's to the 25th. Cheers!

Haha!

I've seen a few in the past mentioning specific dates for ITMS Australia only for it to fizzle into oblivion. I guess though if Apple want their video iPods to be of any worth here they'll need to get ITMS up and running. But like I said before, the price point for a single won't convince me to buy and download inferior quality music compared to an original cd.

Heard it on the radio

Just heard on the news on the radio (B105) that iTMS is coming to Australia at the end of the month. Was going to post a thread, but searched and found this one first. I think it's actually going to happen this time, fingers crossed.

I'm pretty sure the last rumoured release date was in the press to, so once again I'll believe it when I see it!

If this is true, then finally, congratulations on getting the store, Aussies! Us Canucks have had to wait for a while, as well, to get our very own

iTunes Australia... Finally?

http://www.macrumors.com/images/macrumorsthreadlogo.gif

After many false starts, Apple may finally be launching iTunes Australia.

Originally reported on Appletalk.com.au, Apple is planning on launching iTunes Australia at a media conference next Tuesday (Oct 25th). CNet.com.au confirms that the special media briefing will feature Eddie Cue, vice president of iTunes, and Greg Joswiak, vice president of iPod product marketing. They will be addressing the press at 9am at Siebel Pier One Hotel in Sydney, Australia.

The Daily Telegraph also confirms the media conference, but pinpoints the actual launch to October 31st:

Quote:
Australia's leading music video directors are believed to have produced clips specifically for small screen playback as an exclusive feature for the launch.
Earlier reports indicated that Sony and Warner Music had been holding out on signing agreements with Apple. Warner Music is expected to sign on with Apple, but Sony BMG is reportedly still holding out.

Yay - and New Zealand as well?

Wahoo!

Hopefully this includes New Zealand as well.

Cheers, Ed.

They held out for a LONG time. The AU store has reached nearly myth status.

Thankfully I'm in the US so iTMS is old news

With any luck next Tue... welcome aboard!

Did the last "press meeting" have the head of iTunes and the head of iPod marketing speaking? Because it sounded pretty promising but ended up just plugging the iPod. Apparently Channel Seven have already confirmed they will be selling shows like Dancing With The Stars on the iPod from mid-06, so now would be the perfect time to start up the store. This better be it.

Okay, Mad Jew, where are you? Lemme buy you a K. West song when it comes true. It's about time the overlord of online music comes down under.

Now the price!

Gosh, about time. Damn those record companies and their hold on the AU market.

Now I wondered which side gave in to permit the opening of the Australian store? And what's going to be the final per song price here?

I'll wait for the full story...

Yes, I'm surprised he hasn't chimed in yet.

I, too, will be curious to see the price point - I hope after all this time it is nothing too unreasonable...

The moon is made of green cheese

I'm actually beginning to doubt that man landed on the moon in 1969.
(for lots of reasons including: they went to the moon with a computer less powerful than the one in a washing machine yet they can't synchronise a set of traffic lights along a mian road in any capital city in Australia)
They'll tease us for a week, announce the date for a week later, disappear back to the US and blame further delays for the store on a record company.
