flickering screen and strange blocks of colour

Hi

My 2010 MacBook Air has developed a fault. If I leave it on for a few hours or overnight and then try and use it, the screen starts to flicker and it flashes between my desktop and a screen that has blocks of colour.

Does anyone have any idea whats causing this and how much its likely to cost to have it fixed?
