Since Bond 23 ("Skyfall") did so well -- good reviews, commercial success (over a billion gross), hit song, 5 Oscars nominations, and 2 Oscar wins -- MGM is anxious to keep the momentum going. We'll still have to wait until 2015 or early 2016 for Bond 24, but at least we know they're working on it. Rumors are that filming could begin this year.

John Logan is already developing the Bond 24 screenplay. Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson are again producing. They should soon be announcing their choice of director. Sam Mendes, director of Skyfall, declined to re-up. He apparently has better things to do. Bond 25 is expected 2 years after Bond 24, with the plots expected to be tied together.

Daniel Craig will play James Bond in Bond 24 and is under contract for Bond 25 as well.

Possible Bond girls: Andrée Bernard, Olga Kurylenko (from Quantum of Solace).

Ben Whishaw expects to return as the most important character of all: Q!

Good news :)
I like Daniel Craig as Bond, although I must admit I was a little disappointed with Skyfall
Casino Royale remains the best of the re-boot IMO

Possible Bond girls: Andrée Bernard,
I would be really surprised if a 46 year old woman plays the role of the Bond girl. If she does I'd like to see how it turns out.

I agree. Skyfall was not nearly good.

After the truly painful experience that was watching Skyfall for me I have zero hopes for the next one.

Bond was always about exaggerated and unrealistic plots, but with the many funny/ironic moments in preCraig Bonds this didn't matter. Giving an exaggerated, unrealistic and stupid plot a serious coating results in something extremely ridiculous. Skyfall was certainly one of the worst movies I have ever seen at a cinema.

Just my opinion of course.

Loved Skyfall. Not quite the brilliance of Casino Royale, but certainly a solid bond movie and much better than that Quantum of whateveritwas they put out a few years ago.

Bring on the next movie!

Looking forward to it. Only problem is that with Skyfall they've introduced an older Bond (which was funny seeing as how Craig was probably near his physical peak during filming). So does that mean we'll see a slower paced movie?

Ha ha, as a 41 (and just over a half) year old, I have to concur with the age comments! ;)

I'm actually heartened to see some negative comments about Skyfall as I really didn't like the film and have been bemused by the hype and awards it received. For me, it was the weakest of the three Daniel Craig Bond films.

They seemed to be on a grittier, slightly more believable Bond arc before Skyfall but the whole thing with Q, the Aston Martin DB5 and Javier Bardem's caricature of a bad guy (not his fault, he's a fine actor, it was the character) helped to ruin it for me.

It was camp, overblown and predictable and frankly, could have had Roger Moore in the title role, sporting a natty safari suit. Casino Royale was, IMVHO, the best of the three so far. Quantum of Solace took me a few watches to appreciate but Skyfall has not really improved for me, even with multiple viewings.

I may skip the cinema for this one as I'm not a fan of the direction in which Mendes and the writers seemed to take the franchise.

Any hints on the plot or characters?
I will go out on a limb and predict that the plot will involve a smooth suave British spy named James Bond and a megalomaniac bad guy, stern MI6 superiors who know Bond is their best but give him a hard time, gadgets, vehicles, worldwide scenery, chases, fights, and murders.

Actually, it might be a continuation of Skyfall, so the starting point would presumably be the aftermath of the intrigue and betrayal within MI6.

Daniel Craig as Bond and Ben Whishaw as Q are the only actors/characters confirmed so far.

I developed a crush for Olga Kurylenko in QoS. She reminds me of my wife. :) Did not recognizer her in her IMDB photo.

What I think of is something like (A much better look for her imo):

I was pretty disappointed with Skyfall. I understand that it was supposed to be a darker role but the plot wasn't that great and it was fairly predictable.

I do like Craig as Bond and hope the next movies are better.

So according to a non-credible news source, Bond 24 might be based on Sebastian Faulks Devil May Care.

Of course until any concrete proof appears I won't hold my breath, but has anyone read the book? It was an OK read, not particularly great. I suppose it would please more old school fans who want a more traditional Bond I suppose.

To be honest skyfall was pretty bad. They broke away from the original style by mimicking the action of bourne identity.. etc.

you could say MGM was forced to do it since they were barely trying to get out of debt.

I am already set for a new Bond, he does fine and all yet there is just something that bugs me. And there is something wrong with some cool tech again. Every movie wanted to be so called realistic yet they hardly are in many ways. Like the Batman films, he is too clumsy and does not fight as well as he should. I don't mind a little craziness in my comic movies and gadgets with the Bond films.

Die Another Day did not bother me.

Of the Craig Bond movies I did not care for Skyfall. The two linked movies before were the among the best Bonds I've ever enjoyed while acknowledging that From Russia with Love, Goldfinger, and Thunderball are beloved from my childhood. I had to talk my parents into letting me see the first two as a double feature in the theaters. :)

I though it was pretty good. It got a 7.8 rating with a Metascore of 81 on IMDB which isn't bad. Movie likes and dislikes are subjective. I even know people who hate Star Wars :D.

I thought Skyfall was really good from the opening sequence, right up to the point where he opens the Garage to the DB5. I was fine with them never really addressing the issue. But since they opened up the can of worms, I really wish they had gone in the opposite direction; that James Bond is a codename and many spies have taken the role.

They wasted a perfect opportunity to set the universe in order. Or in the words of Obi-Wan:

You were the chosen one! It was said that you would destroy the Sith, not join them. You were to bring balance to the force, not leave it in darkness.

Silva was a great villain, I thought. He didn't want money, power or anything. Just revenge.
