So last night I was restoring my jailbroken iPod touch, and iTunes would not let me restore without updating, so I lost my ability to JB. In the event that I need to restore my Jailbroken iPhone 5, is there any way I can keep it running 6.1.2?

Thanks!

Correct, doing so will likely force a restore to 6.1.3

I've heard that you should never select 'erase all settings and contents' on jailbroken iPhones because it messes up the phone and you can't boot afterwards. And if that happens the OP will have to try and restore in iTunes which means he will end up on iOS 6.1.3 anyway.

Correct, jailbreaking alters the file structure, hitting erase all settings and content will sent it in to a boot loop, it is a well know issue and this forum has dozens of threads on it.

@OP was it an iPT4 or iPT5?

I read that but you also said you lost the ability to jb on the IPT, as that is an A4 device and you had it jailbroken Cydia saved tour SHSH, you should be able to restore to 6.1.2

Ah, so is there definitely no way to restore 6.1.2? On my iPhone? The iPod really isn't as important. :eek:

I wonder if disconnecting from the Internet will stop the Apple verification?

It will just give you an error in iTunes.

----------

Maybe an "erase all content and settings" restore?

that will just get your iDevice stuck on Connect To iTunes screen with the only option is to restore to 6.1.3

it will. people need to be careful.

Not for an iPhone 5. For an iPhone 5, and a 4S for that matter, you cannot restore to any firmware that Apple is not signing.

Oh OK. I'm guessing that's why you should get your SHSH blobs when you can.
