I bought a USB Hub for my iMac only to discover that it wont sync or charge my iPad. Does anybody know of a small hub that will look nice with the mac and will also sync/charge an iPad? please help me! :(

Charging an iPad from a Mac requires that the USB port it's plugged into be switched to a "High Power" mode, which is done in a specific manner by the OS for the first high-power device plugged into that USB socket. More details here:

There are very few hubs out there that will emulate that behavior. There are a few, but it'll be very clearly defined in the features of the hub. Here's one example:
