shockwave flash isn't responding

Every few months my Imac OSX LIon gets really slow and unable to play videos. I get the following:
A plugin shockwave flash isn't responding. Stop for plugin or wait.
I updated the software on the Mac, Adobe Flash Player and on Chrome followed by a restart by still the same issue.
Any ideas?

Is the problem only with Chrome? Or is the slowness in FireFox and/or Safari?

Try one of the other browsers and see if you have the same issues.
