I know this has been asked ad nauseum, but I am still uncertain if I can have both the Thunderbolt Display and a 27" monitor with a resolution of 2560x1440 connected to the 2012 Mac Mini somehow?

If not, this will be the deal breaker for me and the Mini. :/

Yes. You plug the TBD into the Mini and then if you don't use another TBD, then you need to add another Thunder bolt device (such as a hard drive) between the TBD and the Displayport Monitor.

So examples:

Mini -> TBD 1 -> TBD2

Mini -> TBD 1 -> Thunderbolt hard drive* -> Non-TBD Display**

* The Thunderbolt device has to have two ports obviously

** Best to use a monitor with Displayport or Minidisplayport. I would not recommend dual link DVI.
