iTunes Australia Arrives

http://www.macrumors.com/images/macrumorsthreadlogo.gif

Ahead of schedule, iTunes now provides an Australia link in the iTunes Music Store.

Songs are being offered for $1.69 and videos for $3.39 (AUS). Rumors for iTunes Australia have been long whispered. Cited reasons for the delay have included resistance from music labels. According to the most recent reports, Sony BMG has not signed on to the iTunes Australia launch.

Official launch is expected on October 25th at a media conference in Sydney.

Good for you my aussie friends. Looks like they figured out a way to pay their artists and labels and around the weird copyright laws.

The big question now is, what nation will become the "most significant country not to have iTMS yet"? Let the whining begin!

Before anyone asks/moans, there still doesn't appear to be a New Zealand iTMS... but maybe, hopefully, we'll see an iTMS NZ on the 25th.

Russia, China and India. While we're at it, let's throw in Iraq, Iran, Syria and North Korea.

Well, after much thought, forget about Russia. They already have AllofMP3.com.

South Korea. Pretty decent music market. I'm not sure it is as big as Japan, but still a major market. I'd love a (legal) way to get me some K-pop.

if we will base on the list of those countries considered as "first world", then singapore should be next, even though it's just a dot in the map

finally! i found CD's too expensive. One question... why do you need seperate stores for every country, there's no physical barrier making it impossible for us to download from the US store for example. Or is it some marketing strategy? or am i missing something?
