Would it be possible to see a 12 inch 1.42 Ghz iBook in early 2006 in the next ibook update? Or no upgrade at all>

I'm guessing next iBook will be intel.

they were updated so recently that I can't really see them doing it with new PPC chips.

yeah, and a 1.42 iBook would totally TOTALLY spank the 12" PowerBook as it exists. (1.42 v 1.5)

Poor PowerBook, you get no love! :(

Well Mac minis were updated in july and september... very close timewise. So I dont like to go by when they were last updated. Also, would a 7448 processor seem impossible bc on freescales website, it seems like its much better than the current 7447A's.

Speaking of 1.42, I don't know if anyone has noticed, but the Apple store has an error on their PowerBook page. If you click the comparison chart, they list the 14" iBook as 1.33.

http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/72701/wo/j67g0OoftnWL2szUMHc1QscTjkT/0.SLID?nclm=PowerBook&mco=7256EE37

I know it might an honest mistake, but it makes the 12" PB look better after being neglected in the updates. If they put 1.42 in the chart many people would think harder about the iBook versus PowerBook decision.

Doubtful, the next iBook revision will most likely feature intel processors.

I agree, I really think the next version will hopefully be an all new look with the intel processor in it.

Not so sure that they need an all new look.

I happen to think that they look awesome as they are now. :)

Well, the only thing i can think of is keeping the 1.33 and 1.42 Ghz models bc a speed upgrade is impossible( ibooks would be too close to PB's) and switching the chips to 7448. I doubt theyd get DDR2 RAM.

I agree, but if they make it thinner and a little different just because we have had that style for the past 4 years.

Hopefully faster than that. Perhaps a 1.86GHz-2GHz Pentium M for the iBooks and a 2.13GHz-2.26GHz Pentium M for the PowerBooks.

I don't think we are going to see the Pentium M range of chips used. I believe Intel will have a new line of chips that are going to be used and imo I believe there might possibly be two versions. One with less clock speed but great battery performance and another chip for the Powerbooks giving better performance. That's my rumor any way ;)
