Boost Mobile May Offer iPhone Later This Year

In mid-2012 rumors surfaced that Boost Mobile might begin offering the iPhone late in the year. Those rumors didn't come to fruition, but a new tweet from @evleaks (via 9to5Mac) suggests that the Sprint subsidiary might gain the iPhone during the third quarter of 2013.
If the rumor is true, Boost Mobile would become the fourth major prepaid carrier to offer the iPhone after Cricket Wireless, Virgin Mobile, and Walmart brand Straight Talk.

Boost Mobile is known for its $50 per month plan, which includes unlimited talk time, unlimited texting, and unlimited data. With Shrinkage, a reward for paying bills in a timely manner, Boost Mobile unlimited plans can go as low as $35. It is not known, however, if the carrier's current plans will apply to the iPhone.

Boost-Mobile has horrible reception in my area.
Why would I do this if it in fact would not make safari snappier...?

This would be very cool. It would be smart if Apple brought out their less-expensive iPhone+ (or whatever they're calling it now) concurrently with a Boost Mobile announcement, to tap into the low-cost phone market directly.

Boost Mobile is a wholly owned subsidiary of Sprint Nextel and uses its network, so this kind of collaboration makes a decent amount of sense.

I was thinking the same thing. Apple also needs to get that cheaper iPhone out there by the end of the year.

Sucks in my area too. Sprint/Boost is a joke here. I'm switching to T-Mobile for the 5s.

It's not that bad in my area (I guess). My daughter has a phone on Boost because her data usage used to be . Now she's down to $45 a month and I really don't worry about surprises anymore.

I say I guess because I have rarely ever seen the kid on a call. Between FB, Twitter, and texting she seems to communicate with EVERYONE just fine.
