I've been googling for a few days now looking for a solution to this. Can any gurus help me out?

I consider myself an experienced mac user. I'm using a 2009 MacBook Pro running OS X Lion.

I'll be working in XQuartz or Thunderbird or even System Preferences and suddenly my Firefox window jumps to the top.

I thought at first it might be a trackpad issue so I disabled as many of the OS X Lion gestures as I could since I don't use them anyway. The problem persists. It happens maybe once every 10 minutes.

Edit: it seems I can get it to happen consistently by turning off wifi, deleting the SSID from network preferences, then turning on wifi. The SSID selection popup leaves Firefox on top. But it also happens randomly on its own. This leads me to think it's because I keep a tab open with gmail and I have the Voice & Video Chat plugin installed.
