You can use Disk Utility to make an encrypted image (DMG) and put the file inside that DMG.

How do I open that in MS Windows? Because I want the encrypted files to be able to be opened on Mac and MS Windows.
You can't. I did not realize you needed to open the files in Windows also.
What about a shareware called Espionage?
