My system admittedly is running low on space - 15GB is left of my 500GB SSD. Every once in a while, I see a "Low Space" warning pop up for half a second, then it vanishes. Does anyone know what could be causing this?

The usual OS X message is "Your startup disk is almost full. You need to make more space available on your startup disk by deleting files."
If you are getting some other message, then I'm not sure what that might be.

However, obviously, you need to think about whether you can delete some files or move stuff onto an external drive. The usual rule of thumb is keep 10% capacity free.

Your iTunes Library, for example, can easily be moved to a new location and doesn't really need the speed of an SSD.
