I recently opened up my macbook late 2009 several times to put in a ssd and data doubler. The first ssd died in a week and ended up putting in a second one. The first thing I wondered is that if I want apple to replace the battery, will they refuse to service the notebook now that the superdrive is not there anymore?

Secondly I'm hearing a big creaking sound when i close my macbook lid. I think the creak was always there before, but is it possible that one or more of the screws i took off and retightened to put in the data doubler made the hinge too tight?

I followed this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fLwBYKJudfo

Thanks in advance!

Depends on the Apple Genius, but they may refuse service till you put the original optical drive back in.

If you can replace the hard drive, you can replace the battery yourself too. It just takes a special screw driver to get the battery out, but there are kits online or you can get yourself a tech screw driver set.
