Changing login/full screen backgrounds

Is there a proper way to change the light grey linen background on the login screen as well as the darker grey linen screen when going to full screen? I have found a few ways to do this in the forums, yet they are either for Snow Leopard or Lion. I am running OS X 10.8.3. I do not want to use an app to perform this task. I have already changed my dashboard and mission control to a chosen background and would like to finish the above mentioned tasks. Thanks T
