Sending content between mac and iOS

Quick q. I've done some Googling but each time I search I get results with regards to sending SMS's to myself which is not what I want.

Basically I often write long messages via SMS to people from my iPhone.

At the moment I do this on my Mac, iMessage myself, and copy and paste the text from my iPhone to the Messages app.

Is there a dedicated app for transferring text from Mac to iPhone?
