Remapping Japanese Keyboard

Hi all !

I have a quick question for those who have experience with remapping a keyboard. My uncle is coming back from Japan, and can get me a MBP with a japanese keyboard.

I read I could remap the whole thing with Ukelele, does it work with the Japanese version ?
I also read some people had difficulties remapping the language switch buttons, has anyone had experience with this ?
