When it comes to replacing its SSD, are there any cheaper alternative that could be used? Or does it have to be a SSD?

thanks :D

it needs something with a propiarety m-sata connector and almost as thin as a memory module. If you find something which has that things and it fits then it's probably is an SSD anything else will probably not exist.

What model year is your Macbook Air?

As far as I know there are only two possibilities for replacing the SSD in a 2010-2012 Macbook Air:

1) An OEM Macbook Air SSD from eBay or someone like iFixit

2) An Aura series replacement SSD from OWC

Note that the 2010-2011 compatible SSDs are a different connector than the 2012 SSDs, so you have to find one for your model year.

No other SSDs or hard drives will work in a 2010-2012 Macbook Air.
