Can you have any control over the serial number...

... of the machine you're buying? I.e. if you know that some series showed some glitches or if you want a Samsung screen and not an LG one, can you somehow specify it to your seller? Silly probably, but I was just wondering. 😛
 
the serial is stated on the box, so if you shop in an Apple reseller shop, then you could check the serial before making the purchase.

but I suppose you are shopping online, then you can just ask.
