I have a macbook air that keeps powering down when I hardwire it! I bought an adapter that I plug into the macbook and then gives me the ability to hardwire as opposed to use wifi. I need to hardwire so I can access the network at work and have access to shared drives, printers, etc. The wifi network is public so it has limited access to these resources. Has this happened to anyone? Have any idea what may be causing this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What MacBook Air model (year) and Mac OS X version do you use, and what exact USB or Thunderbolt to Ethernet adapter do you have?

Does it also happen in another, even temporarily created, user account?
