iTunes Radio vs Spotify

I might flick though iTunes radio now and then but there are plenty of specialist radio stations I use anyway. I have tones of music to listen to on spotify which is the artists I want, when I want.

Doesn't the free spotty app on iOS limit how much you can listen to a month? Or has that changed?

To get the iOS app I believe you have to pay 9.99 a month.

That's what I thought, back when I used it a few years ago, but wasn't sure if it had changed.

I use Spotify for 100% of my music and I love that it allows me to save the tracks for offline listening since I'm not on an unlimited plan and I currently can't get internet where I live.

So if iTunes Radio doesn't have a similar feature it will be completely useless.

I'll be sticking with spotify for now. iTunes Radio is available only in the US anyway for now (says at the bottom of http://www.apple.com/itunes/itunes-radio/). Spotify doesn't have a listen limit, has the radio function and you can save tracks for free, and listen to what you want when you want.

I suppose it was inevitable that apple wouldn't undermine traditional iTunes with a similar offering to spotify.

You can buy the songs you like with iTunes Radio. If you ever stop paying for spotify, those songs you downloaded are gone. iTunes purchases stay.

Spotify radio is free for US-only, same as iTunes Radio, tho we know the later will expand to the UK quickly, which'll do me. iTunes radio also doesn't have a listen limit.

True, perhaps they aim to have it ready by fall for UK and Europe. I miss the Beatles and a couple of other artists that aren't on spotify.

That's why I use Spotify, it's a better value then paying for EVERY song. That's why I doubt I'll be switching to iTunes Radio.

I welcome iTunes Radio as I quite dislike Spotify. It plays songs I dislike and won't remember songs I like. And to top it off, some songs just do not play and I have to skip them

itunes radio gonna be better than pandora?

I use Spotify extensively as well, though iTunes is so pretty on iOS 7 I might start using that again, purely for the look and feel.

Anyway, the main reason I love it is Offline Playlists. Spotify allows for 3,333 tracks to be stored locally PER device, which is just awesome. 10 bucks for all my favorite music with me all the time is perfect.

Radio-style services like Pandora, Last.FM, Spotify radio and now iTunes Radio can be fun, but I really only ever use it for parties.

Will be sticking with Spotify for at least a while. Curious to see what them Scandinavians will do with iOS 7!
