Cool Who's upgrading to 5S?

It's 90% certain that the coming 5S will look similar to 5, based on recently leaked photos. Hence, the only changes we will probably see are hardware upgrades, which are rumoured to be:
1. Faster A7 chip, faster GPU
2. 1.5-2GB RAM to accompany numerous new features in iOS 7
3. X2 resolution (which results in 461 ppi)
4. 13MP camera with dual flash
5. Fingerprint scanning (some people speculate 'S' in this version refers to 'Security')
6. Wifi ac and LTEa
7. The new MacBook Air line has received a huge battery life upgrade, so some people hope the same thing will happen on the iPhone 5S

Let's see how many of us will upgrade to 5S . Count me in as one, currently owning a 5 (without a contract).

I'll be sticking with my 5 for now (in a 18 month contract)

I can say though I'll be going for the 32 or 64GB version next time though 16GB is no where near enough anymore!

I do hope that they improve battery life too though my 5 only just gets me through the day.

I will def be upgrading. I'm currently on the 4S running the iOS 7 beta and it will look and run beautiful on the 5S/6/iPhone, what ever they decide to call it.

Will be getting a new o2 "refesh" contract which allows you to change your phone when ever you like. Perfect for those on a 2 year contract.

I have a 5 that I paid retail for a few months ago after breaking my 4 on accident; I could re-up my contract and get a 5S but unless it has some killer feature that I get all twisted up about not having on my 5 (i.e. something a hell of a lot better than a fingerprint scanner) I will be skipping.

My goal from here on out is to buy all my phones retail instead on a contract so that AT&T never has leverage over me if they don't treat me the way I feel I should be as a consumer; in fact I think these contracts and ETFs have made mobile carriers a little too brash in general and I want to start working towards breaking that trend. I can swing a new phone at retail prices every two years without feeling wasteful.

I have a 4S and love being on the S-cycle, but this may be one that I pass up. While I'm all about improved camera technology and I want that LTE, I loathe the screen size of the 5. I wish they had kept roughly the same ratio and increased both dimensions rather than only the vertical. Thus, I may sit this one out and wait to see if the 6 is more to my liking.

Actually, I'm anxious to see what this 'low end' iPhone might be. I really like the form factor we've been seeing rumors of. As long as it has 32gigs and makes phone calls, I'd prefer that over the current 5 or 5S.

I agree 100%. As far as I'm concerned, going only vertical added absolutely nothing and just looks awkward.

I agree. I wish they kept the 3.5 screen. I'm fine with the 16x9.

Ill be getting the 5s.

Depends. Waiting to see what the 5S (I pray that with the iOS overhaul, they go bold and release a 6) is like. But so tempted to switch to Android (HTC One is beautiful, and the S4 is pretty good despite what the critics say).

Thanks. I found that the 4S has b/g/n with n being 2.4 only.

Def be upgrading. Need the 16:9 aspect ratio for my ATV3 among other things. My 4S isn't cutting it anymore. Looking forward to the Fall

I'm definitely not. I can't upgrade otherwise I'll lose unlimited with Verizon. An S model simply isn't enough of an upgrade for me to spend $800. On top of that iOS 7 will be a huge difference that will make my current phone essentially feel like a different phone, enough to get me through another year for the 6.

You really think it's going to have LTE-A when Verizon is the only US carrier that even has a completed LTE network as of right now?

We don't need a 461 ppi display, and we don't need a quad-core processor. iOS is a very sleek and fast OS. It doesn't need all that power like android phones, as android is a mountain of an OS compared to iOS. However, gpu improvements are welcome (I'm excited to have the rogue processors!)

I hope they optimise the swift cores for power, and I hope the add a new GPU, and I hope they add more memory (for the iOS 7 multitasking). I also want them to bring the CPU timer coalescing, and the other battery life improvements from Mavericks into iOS 7.

iPhone 5 user here. You may think its awkward at first, but when I go back the the 3.5" display, it just feels very cramped.

The LTEa chip is not much difference from a LTE. I believe Samsung is now putting them in the S4.

not me...

I bought a 5 today as my 4s was freaking out pretty badly and I had the early upgrade option through AT&T. After so much research, it really wasn't worth for me to jump ship to T-Mobile just yet.

In two years if I'm still wanting an iPhone and T-Mobile convinces me to switch, sure, I'll give them a try.

I can roll with an iPhone for 18-30 months, wish it was the same for every other Apple product.

I have a 5 and I was going to skip the 5s but since AT&T moved my upgrade date from 09/14 to 02/15 I may use an early upgrade and sell my 5 that way I can have my 2 year upgrade date coincide with the release of the iPhone every 2 years.

For me to even consider it I would need at least a 4.5 inch screen. Preferably a 4.7 inch. The screen on the iPhone 5 here is too small for everyday use for me.

I'm about fed up with Verizon's 3G on my 4S so I plan on getting the 5S. I just hope Apple has a secret up their sleeve to make it more worth it. But I'll be happy with a 5 with upgraded internals if that's all it is.
