Startup disk doesn't have enough space to be partitioned

I have been trying to use boot camp but I just keep getting this error message.

The startup disk doesn't have enough space to be partitioned: You must have at least 10GB of free space available.

Well, I do. I have 456.19GB remaning. But I can't run it!

Can anyone help me?

Can you open up Disk Utility and take a screenshot of the window? Also when you say Boot Camp, are you talking about the Boot Camp Assistant app?

There's files sitting on the disk in the sectors that your trying to create a new partition on. You can either use a HFS+ defragmenter to shift the files to the front of the drive or backup and reformat your whole drive.

Its always best to use boot camp assistant after a clean install to avoid this issue.
