Segate invents 60tb hard drive...

Well they didnt "invent" it per say, they found a way to increase storage density per square inch. They say its the path to get to 60TB in the next decate =P As far as invented, they will probably have 6TB HDDs for desktops and 2TB HDD for laptops within this decade. Interesting though, good to hear there is progress

Quite amazing size drives but I keep wondering - what happens after a drive failure of one of these drives if they are full. The amount of data lost is amazing and even in a situation like RAID 5, to replace/restore would take quite a long time.
It would be nice to have units of 2, 5, 10 TB. Larger than 10 TB might be good for business that would spend more on redundancy or disaster recovery means. - just an opinion of course.
