unlock a file

i am trying to unlock a file on text edit and from using the mac unlock menu that pops up it doesnt work

I have searched through the forum but i couldnt really understand it

The file is hard to access as i open up a application then another file pops up inside the app(if that makes sense) then i right click and go through the show package contents till i get to my desired file
